Toni-Marie Polkinghorne

Executive Assistant and Facilities Coordinator

“I am always curious about how something is, works and knowledge wise want to know more, as one can never stop learning.”
What is a little-known fact about you?

I was born in Melbourne but have lived most of my life in New Zealand.

What piques your curiosity or where do you seek out inspiration?

I have picked up an interest in reading autobiographies and I also have a keen interest in cooking and baking, trying new ideas.

Could you tell us a story about a moment of realisation in your lifetime?

Many many years ago I realised that I didn’t need anybody to lean on or rely on as I was my own person and I make my own path in life. This meant that I didn’t need others to tell me what to do or where I should go and I learnt this the hard way when I was left on my own with a two year old thinking I wasn’t going anywhere in life. I after a while knew that it was up to me to make something of myself because nobody else was going to do it for you. I have also passed these values on to my two children who have made me so proud.

When, where, or with whom do you feel the most fulfilled?

There have been few times, when I had my children, gaining my Business Administration Diploma and when I became a nana to two beautiful grandsons.

What invigorates you creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Family, friends and the big fellow up stairs at times.
