I have an enduring curiosity, and a huge appetite for research that leads to discovering what makes individuals, teams, and organisations work. This, underpinned by my 15 years’ experience in mining, mineral processing, and utilities, and my natural zeal to explore culture and understand how we can maximise employee engagement, ultimately guides and influences my work. And while I am practiced in developing and implementing strategies, plans, and approaches that reflect the industry’s and the individual’s changing needs, I am at my best when I am connecting with individuals and working with the rhythm of the group to build leadership capability and enhance self-awareness.

I undertook professionally challenging work in Mongolia where I implemented engagement mobilisation within the organisation and built local contractor readiness to deliver on-site operations. It was a grass-roots, hands-on approach to identifying areas of improvement, and maximising operations and it was a humbling life changing experience. There I was, a white outsider, coming into their culture and putting change processes in place which were counter to the ways in which things were done, and yet they embraced me, they called me sister, and they invited me into their families. I was granted enormous trust. There is nothing quite as powerful as being accepted unconditionally and this is a catalyst for the work I do with cultural change.
My mentor is a professional woman, Dee Roche. As the Senior Management Consultant for AIM WA UWA Business School Executive Education Program and also the Managing Director of Dee Roche Leadership Development Consultancy she has been an inspiration to me and my work. I’ve learnt so much about Strategic Change and Transformation but she has made an even bigger impression on me through her passion and energy, her capacity to live her life to the full, through giving of self in her work with not-for-profits, and also through the professional networks she has championed. She sets a high standard to which I aspire and like me she believes that we are truly the architects of our own possibility and I keep this uppermost in my mind as I embrace her challenge and push forward and optimise my passions through my work.
