John Hulme is an industry specialist in the oil and gas sector having worked across the globe in various roles from management, subsurface, drilling, facilities and procurement for new offshore field developments, and enhancement of existing field production and exploration.
John’s 24 years experience spans subsurface, production operations, strategic planning and management, and development. He has held many leadership roles both in the field and within senior management teams for companies Santos Ltd, Anadarko Petroleum and Exxon Corporation.
In his current role with Newfield as Malaysia Country Manager, John is responsible for $700 million net capital and operating budget, the highest pressure PMCD well in the world to date, and the delivery of significant incremental gas reserves (which more than doubled the existing Malaysia reserve base and secured Sarawak business and new partners PETRONAS and Shell).
John earned a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines after completing his Bachelor of Science in Marine Geotechnics at the University College of North Wales. He also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment from SIA. He has been a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers for 23 years.
